Hello to all! Let’s talk.

This has been on my heart and I felt like today would be a great time to share. It’s so funny to me how much we take offense to labels and what people call us. So many new words, phrase, sayings but do any of them really mean anything to you?!?!

“I’m the baddest b**** alive.”

When did we as women get off by calling ourselves b****es?  That statement in itself is unattractive. I remember when that word had a bad meaning and women would get upset if someone called them that but now it’s like the IT thing. Too many songs are using it too freely, like other names/labels.

Label (noun):

  • a short word or phrase descriptive of a person, group, intellectual movement, etc.

I’m starting to notice that I’m becoming unbothered by labels. I’m slowly starting to realize that no they don’t mean anything to me. Why you may ask because just like rules, labels can be broken as well. People think that labels will stick, Nope not going to happen especially when they are thrown around just like words. I remember when word was your bond, when all you had was your word. Now it seems like words are so much more frequent that actions never follow up those words. Pay attention to actions.

What if I don’t live up to be the best friend that the person needs me to be? What if being your sister isn’t who I’m suppose to be? What if the label you give me isn’t the label I give myself? What if I just want to be me today and not listen to your problems? Some labels are attached by default. Like family that’s attached by default because we don’t get to select our own family members until we’re older and friends turn into family.

Do you let labels define you? Do you take offense when someone calls you something that you aren’t? If so, how does that affect your approach with that person in your next encounter?

I’m not a label. You aren’t a label. Remember whatever someone else tries to put on you, you don’t have to accept it. You are more than any word a person tries to place on you, especially if it’s something that you don’t see fit for your life. Your past is not your present. It helped you get to where you are today but you aren’t living in your past anymore. Whatever you feed into your mind daily is what you will become. Feed yourself positivity, happiness, love, peace and understanding. Remember your labels of yourself as well and love yourself exactly where you are and move forward to being what you need to be. Any sign of growth and progress is better than no progress at all.

If you don’t take anything else from this post, remember this: You are not a label.

Thank you for stopping by as always.

Until next post! Shine bright and don’t forget to Find Your Light!

Xoxo,
